Getting ready for off the grid...

Very little update...

Its nearly that time again...to go off the grid, and start the homeward leg.

Its been a pretty busy time here in the Caribbean, an amazing one though!!

After a week on the dock here in Antigua, my little Yanmar was back in action. Never have I loved the sound of an engine so much! Even though there are jobs to do, not just on the boat but getting plans for the refit and the coming summer sorted, its so easy to enjoy the Caribbean. Being able to start the day as the sun rises with a morning swim, then getting on with jobs in the sunshine. About midday its too hot and the deck burns but I can definitely think or worse places to have to write emails.

I couldn’t stay on the dock the whole time here so I had to sit at anchor for a few days which meant if I wanted to go ashore then it was a row against 25knots which would take a good half hour. But when I found out that I could become a member of Antigua yacht club and stay on the dock I was straight back in, mainly for convenience as sat at anchor is always enjoyable, but it just meant time saved getting ashore.

When I return from my Atlantic loop in May then Ariadne goes into refit with Rustler yard for several months. The jobs list has slowly been getting longer the more I sail her, a lot of little changes to the set up for sailing her alone.

Its still fairly early in the season to head North, the Caribbean season is in full swing but I will be heading home in the next couple weeks, theres too much prep to do for the race to hang around in the sunshine...
